Default Seller Guardian Terms & Conditions (v1)

(Applies only when a Seller has not published its own approved Shop policies)

1. Application

These Terms apply as a minimum standard for Seller–Buyer interactions when a Seller has not published its own approved Terms & Conditions or related policy documents.

2. Seller responsibility

The Seller is solely responsible for:

• the accuracy of listings, descriptions, images, prices, and representations;
• the legality and safety of goods or services offered;
• fulfilment, delivery, warranties, and after-sales obligations; and
• compliance with applicable laws and regulations of Sri Lanka.

3. Prohibited listings

The Seller must not list or promote:

• illegal, stolen, counterfeit, or restricted items;
• drugs, narcotics, weapons, explosives, or controlled substances;
• sexually explicit or exploitative content; or
• fraudulent, deceptive, or materially misleading offers.

4. Accuracy and fairness

The Seller must:

• clearly disclose total price, condition, defects, variations, and applicable charges;
• avoid deceptive pricing and false urgency; and
• honour representations made in listings and communications.

5. Payments and proof

Where platform-supported payment methods are used, platform records may be treated as primary evidence of payment status. If manual payment methods are permitted, the Seller and Buyer must follow Makato’s reference and verification requirements.

Makato does not guarantee settlement, recovery, or outcomes of private payments.

6. Disputes and reasonable cooperation

The Seller must respond to Buyer complaints within a reasonable time and offer a fair resolution where a listing is materially inaccurate. The Seller should reasonably cooperate with requests for evidence (such as messages, photos, invoices) where disputes arise.

7. Enforcement

Listings or Seller access may be restricted or removed for violations of these Terms or for content that is unsafe, misleading, or unlawful.

8. Updates and precedence

These Terms may be updated from time to time. If the Seller publishes its own approved Shop policies, those policies may replace these default terms for that Shop.
